CASE STUDY

A. PERSONAL DATA

Ro-ann is 9-year old girl, turning 10 this coming July 15, 2011. She is now attending her fifth grade at Gomburza Elementary School- Caloocan City. Due to early separation of her unmarried parents, she is now living with her grandparents together with her aunts and uncle.
At present, Ro-ann's mother, Abby, is already married and living with her new partner, Ram, having two kids- Chris, 7- year old, and Kim, 6- year old.

B. JOINING PROCESS

My heart was moved when I heard the problem about Ro-ann, my tutee. It was her teacher, Mrs. Gonzales who first thought that her student faces a behavioural problem so she suggested to Ro-ann's guardians that she have to be therapied. I being her tutor was very concerned about it so
I initiated to clarify the relationship between the family and the parties who have defined that there is a problem in order to solve such issue.

    C. PRESENTING PROBLEM

According to Ro-ann's teacher, Mrs. Gonzales, she used to excel academically. She is very industrious, diligent and friendly. During classroom activities she always initiates and shares good ideas with the class. The problem with her is that she takes some things that she doesn't own. This is congruent with what her classmates complain about their lost things which afterwards be found inside her bag.
Based with Ro-ann's first to fourth grade teachers it is very true that she often keep things without permission to the owner. But when they asked her about it she often denies it.
When I asked Ro-ann's guardians about it, they told me that what is happening is out of their knowing. As they see her attitude inside their home, they can say that she does well with household chores. But as they realized, there was an incident ago that they caught Ro-ann stealing the money of their sari-sari store.
Ruth, one of Ro-ann's playmates, told me that she is a good friend especially when she has lots of money. They were always treated at any store except theirs.
